The Capra Hircus Himalayan mountain goats live at an altitude of over 10,000 feet. The goats survive the cold winters by growing a short fine inner coat of hair, renowned as one of the world's softest and warmest fibers. During the spring molting season, the ultra soft and fleecy hair from the chest, neck and under-belly is hand-combed and collected. Each hair has a thickness of 15 microns (as compared to human hair which is 75 microns) - the secret to its warmth. Pashmina is often combined with silk to make a more durable product. Our products come in ratios of 70% pashmina: 30% silk or 80% pashmina: 20% silk - the higher the pashmina content the more luxurious the product. 100% pashmina shawls are available on specialty order. We carry the following products in a range of solid colors (see color chart below).

Is it really pashmina? Careful what you buy. Many products are sold as 'pashmina' when in fact they are not. Tell tale test: pull a few small fibres off the item, roll into a ball, light a match to it. If it smells like animal hair when burnt and turns to ash it is the real thing. If it melts into a ball, it has synthetic fibres added in and is not the real thing .
